The Histories of 32 Small Ship Squadron RAE together with RAE(Tn)

The following is not a definitive history of the Units that formed 'Water Transport' or the Royal Australian Engineers (Transportation). There are tomes upon the later from inception to current day. A little on the former has been published. Not uncommon for units of any army past or present. What it is hoped however is that this page will serve to provide both as a index of sorts to material available on line and as an opportunity for past and present members of the generic Water Transport arms to publish their recollections, and photos for all to view and enjoy.

Some of the publications available are:

Australian Army Watercraft by Alsop, B. Published by Topmill Pty Ltd, Marrickville, NSW, 1996

Royal Australian Engineers (Transportation) by Morris W (Lt) Published by University of New South Wales (ADF Academy) Canberra, 1998

Worth their weight in gold - The Saga of the LSMs by Gault,G extracted from Sea Classics Vol 17, No2 March 1984 - limited publication for 32 Small Ship Sqn RAE 25th Anniversary dinner 26 Apr 1997.

Peter Bayliss wrote several papers upon his experiences in Vietnam with 32 Small Ships. This paper provides a view of 32 Small Ship Squadrons overall involvement in Vietnam from the deck of an LSM and Australian maritime involvement in general, together with a thumbnail biography of Peters military career.
